This Friday, I wanted to watch Shootout at Lokhandwala, but could not get the tickets, so I decided to watch Chini Kum. After watching the movie I was thanking those guys who were watching SAL, because of whom I could not get the tickets.
Chini Kum is story of a chef Budhdev Gupta, who is 64 year old and owns London's finest Indian restaurent. In the very first scene of the movie he is portrayed as a person who is really proud of what he is doing and can not take criticism of his work. He meets Nina, a 34 year old software engineer, because of the 2nd one, and the story moves forward.
The chemistry between the leading pair is different from usual on screen romances. They both compliment each other. After a few meetings both of then decide to marry and the obvious question regarding their age difference is raised and that too by none other than Nina's father, played by Paresh Rawal. He protests against his daughter's decision in gandhian way. Other characters in the movie are complimenting the story and don't hamper the pace of the story. Budhdev's relationship with his 6 year old neighbour Sexy is also a unique one.
The story line and screenplay is flawless, and since the background is food, it will appeal to everyone who loves food, and there are a lot many such people. Dialogues are brilliant, and have been written after putting some serious thoughts. All the actors have done brilliant job. Leading pair is brilliant at their parts. Full points to the debutant director, for directing such film. Overall I would rate this movie 7 out of 10.
