Holocaust: President's Watch

Recently I read a news that George Bush lost his watch, when he was visiting Albania. I gave this idea a thought and I think this could be plot to an action packed hollywood thriller.

Imagine US president is visiting some third world country and when he is waving to the crowd, some pick pocket steals his watch. Now this is not an ordinary watch, there is something special about it. As soon as people know about the incident there is a hunt around the world to find that watch.

Mossad, CIA, KGB, MI5, Al-qaida, Hamas all are trying to get hold of that watch. Our hero who is a CIA agent has been given the job to find that watch before it falls in any other hand. And our villain, who is an Al-qaida activist is trying his best to get to the watch before CIA gets it.

Somewhere in between during a meeting in white house it is revealed to the audience, that this is not an ordinary watch and it holds the key to the US nuclear defense program. The key was built in the president's watch because no body ever thought that someone will ever dare to steal that watch from president's hand.

The whole story revolves around the three main characters, the pickpocket, the CIA agent and the al-qaida activist, played by Tom Hanks, Mark Wahlberg and Eric Bana respectively.

Silver Surfer and Four Abnormal Idiots

This sounds to be the more suitable title for "Fantastic Four and The Rise of Silver Surfer".

Leave aside the special effects, cinematography and other technical details, the story is so bad that none of these help the movie. The story is so bad and full of so many cliche elements that you start hating your decision of watching this movie and start cursing your friends who prompted you for watching this movie.

Our bollywood filmmakers have better scripts than this one. Climax of the movie is the worst part. Galectus are approaching the earth to destroy it, and silver surfer sits on his surf board head down, stands up, says one dialogue "This is the end for us both" and everything comes back to normal. You feel cheated that all the drama you saw for last two hours was just for one dialogue.

I will not rate this movie. Would just say, don't watch it even if you have a lot of free time and money to waste. Waste it somewhere else. Because wasting your time and money here might cause you further damage (No pun intended).

By the way don't be surprised if you get to watch two sequels of this flick "Silver Surfer and the Martian" and "Fantastic Four and the Dead Man". (By dead man I mean Victor von Doom, who doesn't seem to die).

Krrrissh: Sequel to Krrish

Have you ever thought of, what could be the story of the sequel to Krrish. Well I have thought of something and wanted to share it with the world.

The movie starts with dying Rekha (bahut ho gaya yaar, let her die in this one) telling something to Krishna/Krrish. Krishna is furious, his face is filled with anger, hatred and revenge. Nobody knows what Rekha has told him. Next scene Rohit (Krishna's Father) is shown doing something in some place which looks like a lab (remember, he has a very sharp brain. probably the most intelligent person alive). Some sequence of events reveal that, after Rohit was cheated by Doctor Arya (remember, Krrish), his life has changed. He now thinks that this world is full of people who want to cheat him and use his powers for their selfish motives. And he wants to destroy this whole world, so that all the evils are destroyed and few good men left after his ambitious plan is executed, will restart the creation of the society in their own way. The society thus formed will be a better world to live.

On the other hand Krrish is living a happy life with his wife Priyanka Chopra. He is shown helping people using his powers a couple of times. Besides this he is on trail of something. Some sequence of events reveal that, he is actually looking for his father Rohit. He wants to stop his father from destroying the world.

In the climax when both Rohit and Krrish are facing each other, first scene of the movie repeats, with dialogues this time. Rekha actually told Krrish, the reality about his birth and how he has got so many super powers, which no human has. Krishna's mother had extramarital affair with Jadu and once Rohit caught them togather and in fit of rage, he killed Krishna's father (yes Jadu is Krishna's real father, doesn't that justify the super powers he has). He actually took Dr Arya's assignment to get away from the guilt of killing Jadu, who meant so much to him.

Then there is a big fight between Rohit and Krrish, where Rohit uses some of this lab experiments to confront Krrish's super powers. But finally Rohit realizes that he can not defeat Krrish and he disappears (scope of another sequel).

In the end Krrish all dressed up in his superhero costume, is standing on a hill top and looking at the sky. Suddenly a star blinks. (Just following the tradition of last two movies).

Now think of the scope Hritik has in this movie to show the world, how great actor he is. Rohit is an old man, who acts like kids but is with sharp brain and a lot of hatred for this world. On the other hand Krrish is a superhero which has got him filmfare for best actor. This movie will show the darker sides of his personality, which is full of revenge. Rohit might turn out to be the Joker of Batman. You can actually remove the extramarital affair part from the script since it's a superhero flick and will be watched by most of the kids.

Watch TV: What about these ads?

I don't have any educational or professional background in marketing, but i have a brain, which works overtime. I have a disease of thinking, thinking about things those do not affect me directly, but I see them around. Since I watch TV a lot, I see that half the time ad films are shown on the screen. I have noticed somethings from these ads, some of them are brilliant and some dumb, some catch viewers attention and some fail to do so, some of them are able to market the product well and some fail to do so.

1. Rediff Mail ad (It's not big it's unlimited): What does the ad mean? Don't go into the details of what is shown on the screen, the essence of the ad is, rediffmail is providing unlimited mailbox storage.
What does unlimited mean? It means that you will no longer be shown how much percentage of storage space you have already used. Instead of adding, they have removed something and marketing the product on that basis.
What a brilliant idea? Some people might actually be falling for it.

2. Feviquick ad (Catching the fish): Well the ad must be almost 10-12 second long. Only words spoken in the ad are in tamil, which i don't understand, but i still could understand what it wanted to say.
What a brilliant way of saying how quick and effective faviquick is.

3. Ads Featuring Celebrities: There are a lot many ads featuring celebrities. Have you ever thought, why these companies are spending millions to get a celebrity in the ad. Do you think if I would use MRF tyres just because Sachin is saying so. There could be many people who would do that. But I think the idea behind taking celebrity in an adfilm is not only targeting fans of those celebrities. These celebrities are famous, known faces, they are seen on TV, Magzines, Newpapers regularly, since your product is assiciated with these celebrities, they are indirectly marketing your product. They are in a way increasing the recall value of your product. If I need to replace my bike tyres and Sachin Tendulkar comes in my mind somehow, I might go for MRF tyres. The probability of Sachin coming in my mind is more than that of MRF tyres.

4. Orbit White Ad (It does not rhyme, but it is true): Have you seen the cow ad of orbit white. The ad is different from other ads, the idea, the concept, everything is different. The ad makes sure that people notice the difference by stating in the end "It does not rhyme, but it is true". Ad film maker has explicitly mentioned that this ad is different.
What is the need to make this ad different from others? The idea is similar to putting a white spot on a black wall. You will notice it easily.

to be continued....

Hate Mumbai Traffic: What about some new traffic rules?

Rule No.1: Anyone driving a car with less than 3 people inside will be fined 1000 Rs. What will happen if the rule is implemented?
1. This will reduce traffic on roads. There will be less cars on the road.
2. This will increase public interaction. Imagin your neighbor ringing your doorbell at 8:30 in the morning, asking if you need a ride to your ofice.
3. It would reduce no of rickshaws also. People will easily get ride to office.
4. Husband, wife will travel togather, even if they had a fight last night. This will reduce domestic fights.
5. Less need for public transport, less effort for government. This may lead to tax exemption to people who own cars.

So many pros! why don't we implement this rule, right away.

Rule No.2: No trucks in city between 8:30-10:30 in the morning and 5:00-8:00 in the evening.
Everyone knows what will happen. This is already implemented in some cities in India.

Have thougth of 2. Why don't you think of more and let me know.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom: But Why?

There is a company who has hired more people than required. These employees can not be fired. So company decides to give them some work and does some projects without any reason, and any direct benefit. Well the company here I am talking about is YashRaj Films and projects are movies like TaRaRumPum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.

The story is about Rikki Thukral (Abhishek Bacchan) and Alvira Khan (Priety Zinta). Both of them are waiting for a train at Birmingham station, which is running late. Both of them indulge into a conversation and it turns out that they are already engaged and are waiting for their fiance, who are coming from the same train. You don't have to be a genius to guess the climax of the movie. We guessed it even before interval. Whole climax scene is shot in a dance sequence, which has been choreographed well by Vaibhavi Merchant. Last scene of the movie hasn't been written well.

Abhishek Bacchan is the only saving grace for the film, you feel good when he is there on screen. Lara Dutta does nothing except for looking beautiful. Well finally Priety Zinta has managed to remove her Veer Zara make up and looking much younger than her previous films, but in acting department she should have put a lot more effort. Bobby Deol is bad as always, but manage to make you laugh at a couple of occasions. There is Amitabh Bacchan also in the movie. What is he doing there? Well, it seems wo Birmingham station me, ajeeb se kapde pahan ke, hindi gaane gake bheekh mangate hain. So now we know that such beggars are not seen only in Indian trains and platform. He doesn't really have anything to do in the movie, except irritating you by singing the title track again and again. Will someone please tell me, why is he torturing us.

Story could have been a lot more better (well contrary to popular belief, there is a story in the film). Who has designed Abhishek Bacchan's costumes, Govinda ne bhi kabhi aise kapde nahi pahne. It suits the character BTW. Shaad Ali's Direction is good, but he couldn't do much with the loose screenplay. Music by Shankar Ehsaan Lay is not one of their best, they are capable of doing a lot better.

To our moviegoers I would like to say, if you are going for this movie, don't leave the cinema hall in interval (believe me you will feel tempted to do so). Second half of the movie is a lot better than the first half, and Amitabh Bacchan appears only once in the second half.

Overall the movie is not that bad, but you have to watch it without any expecations (these should be very high because of the big names associated). I would rate it 5 out of 10.

PS: YRF, please do us a favour, if you don't have a good idea in mind, don't make a movie. Wait for a good idea, they will come definitely.

Next: In next two minutes you will finish reading this post

Well, next is a movie about Cris Johnson aka 'Frank Cadillac' (Nicolas Cage), who has the ability to see what is going to happen with him in next two minutes. But something strange happens when he is around this mysterious girl Elizabeth 'Liz' Cooper (Jessica Biel). The twist to the story is a nuclear weapon which has been smuggled into United States and terroists are targeting to blow it in LA. An FBI agent Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore) tries to utilize Cris' power to see the future to stop this catastrophe. The ending of the movie is unexpected and unusual. Wouldn't want to be guilty of exposing the ending here.

Nicolas Cage is getting old, Jessica Biel is beautiful and Julianne Moore looks great as an FBI agent, all other character are not very important. The idea is new, and have been presented decently. Writing screenplay to such an script is really a tough job and you can not question the author, when you feel like at couple of occasions. Cris' escape from casino and his escpe attemt form motel are shot and edited brilliantly. You actually realise that this guy is seeing what's coming.

Overall the movie gets 6 out of ten. Worth a watch.

Disclaimer: Do not use your brain unless required while watching the film.

Shooter: One man show

The story is similar to Chura Liya Hai Tumne, minus the amnesia part. Our hero Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg) is a marksman, living in exile. He is forced to be back in business after learning about a plot to kill the president. Soon enough he realises that everything was a set up for something bigger. He is framed for the murder and plot to kill the president. He runs away and tries to expose the real picture with the help of one rookie FBI agent Nick Memphis (Michael Peña), who has done a good job.

Overall the movie is better than Salman starrer Chura Liya Hai Tumne. The plot is gripping, which is supported by decent acting by all the leading characters. Michael Peña, deserves an special mention for doing his part brilliantly. Overall it was great to watch good action with some great sniping scenes.

Would rate this one as 6 out of 10. Watch it, enjoy it, and don't think too much about it.

You may call me V!

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V. (V's introduction to Evey, in "V for Vendetta")

Ocean's Thirteen: Thirteen Thumbs Up!

Al Pacino, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Andy Garcia... oh I am already tired writing these names. Well with the kind of star cast mentioned above, what would you expect. Don't worry this one will not cheat you. It delivers upto your expectation. Now you can imagin how good the movie would be, with the kind of expectations you would be having. Considering you have already seen Eleven and Twelve.

Willie Bank cheats Reuben, and he is not able to handle this and ends up in the hospital. To revenge this his friends Danny Ocean and group decides to rob Willie off his happyness and plan to make him bankrupt on the opening night of his casino. The movie is all about whatever follows.

George Clooney is looking great as usual, Brad Pitt is stylish, Matt Damon does his part well, Al Pacino is good, all others are good in whatever role has been assigned to them. The robbery is well planned and have funny moments well placed. You smile when you notice the tricks plays by ocean and team.

The story is good, and have been edited beautifully. Director Steven Soderbergh has done it again. I would rate this movie 7.5 out of 10. Good Bye then, "see you, when I see you."

Breaking News: There is none!

A lot many people who watch any of the many news channels will understand what I want to say here.

When I was a kid, there were no 24 hour news channels. The only news program was being aired on Doordarshan, twice a day for 15 minutes. That news used to be crisp and contained most of the events of the day, which anyone would be interested in. Now there are as many as 30 news channels, who claim to be airing news for 24 hours a day. Do you think the life is more eventful, than it was 10 years ago. I don't think so. I think the news still can be told in 15 mins, but we get to see those 15 mins in 720 (24*30) hours.

And what we get is something similar to following:
1. A boy falls in a hole and we get to see him for 60 hours. Many news channels were even showing live coverage of the rescue operations. All we got to see was repeated clips of the boy in the hole and people outside the hole praying for his life.
2. One character in a TV serial does something and we are shown clippings of that for hours. If you don't watch the complete story, you will be confused, that Smriti Irani might be going to prison now for killing someone, which was caught on tape by some news channel. Alas it was a clipping of some TV serial being aired on a news channel.
3. We get to watch programs like Hansega India, Aisi Ki Taisi on a news channel.
4. Some girl creates trouble in a wedding, the groom was supposedly her ex-boyfriend/ex-husband and we get to see a live coverage of that.
5. You get to vote (share your views) for anything and everything. I am most amazed by 5% of the voters who always vote "can't say", even though they know that they will be charged 6 Rs for that SMS.
6. Some actor is seen hand in hand with an actress and we get to see news of their marriage. And very next day, we get to hear denial statements from those involved in the story. This way they get to cover at least 2 days.
7. The water at Mahim bay turns sweet and people are there to drink that water. Once after that news I was near Mahim bay and I could not stand the foul smell there. BTW later it was confirmed by some scientists that it happens every year but since there weren't so many news channels, it never came on TV and so many people were saved from drinking that water.
8. Some God's image has appeared on some wall and people are gathering there to worship the God. Well I can show you various such images on my walls, during rains.

I wonder if things keep on going the way they are, the day is not far away when we get to watch news like these:
1. Two friends were arguing on some point and one slappped the other. They are shown live on TV.
2. Amitabh Bachchan's maid didn't turn up today. Jaya Bacchan was seen sweeping the house herself, while Aishwarya was getting ready for a party. And guess what, this could lead to a divorce between Abhi and Ash.
3. Salman Khan kicked one dog under the influence of alchohal, hear Menka Gandhi's comments on the event.
4. There was a peace talk between India and Pakistan, look for the details during our 60 Seconds headlines section.

What the hell, where is this taking us.

Quiting Smoking

My friends say that smoking is the only bad habit I have and I should quit. I say if this is the only bad habit I have, then why should I quit, after all no human is perfect and they should not be. If humans are perfect then who will worship God.
I smoke cause, when I face God (Whenever that moment comes), I don't look him in the eye. Yaar agar koi buri aadat nahi hai, to main bhagwan nahi ban jaunga, so let there be something to keep me a human being. I don't want to be God.
So that's may excuse, what's yours?

Finally It's Over and I am Happy

Remember A? The girl I was trying to be friend with. Well I tried having a conversation with her, but she did not respond to most of my messages. I tried writing mails to her but again, no reply.

Being the impatient person I am, I can not take it further. I am not dying for friends, I have a lot many of them. And will keep on making new friends till I am alive. But what is the point having a friend who does not care about my feelings.

BTW being the optimistic person I am, I always see the bright side to things and the bright side in this case is: I wont have to wait for her to come online till 4 am. I will not have to think abt her anymore, will use my thinking in my office, which my boss have been complaining about since I saw this girl. I can use my time and energy to some place else, where I can see some hope.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Third part of the series disappoints the fans of Jack Sparrow. The movie is not bad, but expections of fans are high ad they can not be blamed for that, thanks to the earlier two parts, first one being the best of the three.

Hollywood film makers should not try making lengthy movies, they should leave that to our bollywood. The movie with runtime of nearly 3 hours is longer than expected. Editor should have used his scissors a bit more and should have cut many scenes where Jack Sparrow is missing. Johnny Depp is brilliant as always. Others in the cast could have done a better job to match his performance.

Story is again bollywoodish with so many love-betrayal sequences. During the interval I actually ended up recalling, who is betraying whom. It seems there was no clear script ready when the shooting started. Scenes were created as story progressed, I also could not understand what Chow Yun Fat was doing the film.

Some sequences are really amazing and are great work of CGI. Fight between Flying Dutchman and Black Pearl in a turbulent sea has been shown brilliantly.

I really hope this be the last one of the pirate series, as if we are shown too much of anything, it sometimes get boring. I would rate this movie 7 out of 10.

I, Me and Myself: Everything is Personalized

I have got a mail from one of my colleague, regarding a new project. The project is related to showing different screens on ATMs to different set of customers. When I asked him, the reason, he said, it will add to the wow factor. Is this wow factor reason enough for spending so much money?

May be, yes. if we look around ourselves we will see that everything is being personalized. Banks are issuing credit cards with your image on the plastic. Some banks have even gone to the extent of giving customer a choise of the image to be put on your credit card. I-pod, the product that remarked the comeback of legendary Steve Jobs, can be the biggest example of personalization. Google has also got into this battle of making things personalized for it's users, if you have used new i-google, you will understand what I am talking about. Everyone wants everything around him to be based on his/her likings and dislikings. People these days are ready to spend a lot of money to buy something which has a signature of their own.

Personalization can start from small things like handkerchief and go upto having a private jets carrying your signature. All of this depends on how much one can afford.

Lets assume you are buying a key ring, a normal one will cost you 50 bucks. Suddenly you notice another key ring bearing your initials, but this one will cost you 20 bucks extra. Will you buy it? There are a lot many people who will be ready to pay 40 percent extra money just to make it personalized.

Have we ever thought that this extent of personalization is driving us away from our social life. We don't listen to our friends, because we are listening our favourite song on our i-pods. We don't want to spend our time with our friends because we too busy watching our favourite show on TataSky. We have started enjoying being alone, and we are not able to notice that in doing so, we are moving away from world.

Will You Be My Girlfriend!

There is this girl, who is smart and beautiful. Lets name her A for the time being. I don't really know A, I came across her profile through a networking site. There is no other way for me to talk to her, except that networking site. So far there have been exchanges of statements a couple of times. I never had a real conversation with her so far. I really admire A, because she is doing something really unconventional and she seems to be confident. I want to reach out to her, but I don't know how.

I have been thinking about various ways to get to know her better and develop feelings about me in her heart, but haven't yet found a good one. I can e-mail her, but I don't know what to write, may be I am not confident as I have never before had such feelings for anyone, and don't know how to take things forward.

I haven't yet told A about my feelings, because I am afraid of her reaction. If she does not feel the same way for me as I do for her, which is most likely the case here, she might stop responding to me and I might loose the only chance I have to reach out to her.

From last few days net in my house was down, so I used to go to my friend's place to be online, just because I could get a chance to talk to her.

I am trying my best but I think my best is not good enough.

Not Well: Sick of Hypocrisy

We meet a lot many people in our daily life, some you know, some you are trying to knaow and some you don't want to know. Have you ever sensed that most of these people are really someone else. They are not what they appear. They are concealing their true identity behind a glass, which is not exactly transperant, but you can see trough it, if you try a little harder.
Have you ever tried looking through that glass shield. I do that sometimes and when you are able to see the clear image behing the glass, it really hurts. It makes me sick. Sometimes people you have known for years turn out to be someone else and you don't like the other person behind the shield.
Have you ever thought, why people portray themselves as what they are not. What is the exact motive behind these role plays? I think it helps them servive in this ruthless world. If I am surrounded by people who live a lavish life, because they can afford it, I will also try to live a life at par, even if it is difficult for me to afford those luxuries. May be by doing this they are trying to get away with the inferiority complex, caused by not being able to live the lifestyle of your friends.
There can be various such cases around ourself, and can be identified, if we look closer.
Now I want to ask all of you, wouldn't this world be a better place to live, if people around you are straightforward and genuine. If everyone knows, what cooking inside the other persons head, wouldn't it be better. Have anyone seen movie Everybody Says I am Fine, this movie has been made on the canvas of hypocrisy/show-off.
